Now, also for a long time, I am intrigued and I like the subject of engine reprogramming, logically, to be able to modify my car (always with safety and asking the experts on the subject first, since I know that the ideal would be to go to a reprogrammer specialist, in fact, my car has already been reprogrammed once, now it is from the factory).

My question is the following: I am interested in buying an OBD read-write device from the engine control units (mainly from my car), but the question arises, if these "clone" devices could be used with different versions of software that they bring when you buy it?
So that you understand me, I have bought a DELPHI DS150 multi-brand machine for a long time, which, I have been able to find the autodata and the delphi, the newest that I have found, and they have recognized the device to read.
Now, if I buy for example the KESS V2, in its latest clone version, which comes with its software, if over time, I find a newer version of the software, does anyone know if I could continue using the device ?, or simply, limited to the software it brings?
Why, the read and write compatibility of car models, is it defined by the device ?, or the software?
I do not know if I have explained myself well, to give another example, if you buy a VAGCOM of a certain version but clone, it is limited to the software version that it brings, and it cannot use more new versions, you would have to buy another cable.
