Hey all,
I have a very strange problem with an E93, long story coming:
Due to an unsuccessful software update, CAS3++ had to be repaired with a BDM programmer, first I tried with R270 like I did it last time, no luck as it had a 0M23S mask, not 0L15Y. OK, then Xprog, it did the job successfully, boot mode unlocked, car was fine, no errors in CAS.
1:
After a few days of standing still, the car was dead, no central locking, no ignition, no ISTA, nothing.
CAS errors:
- A0AA: CAS Control-unit fault
- A121: CAS: Short circuit, LED START-STOP Button
Tried to update with Winkfp, it failed on clear flash, CAS was in boot mode again.
I tried rewriting the CAS EEP with Xprog, write success. The car started for 1,2, or 3 times, then dead again. WTF, rewritten again, same, 1-2 start and dead.
The start button was flashing every 5 seconds.
2:
Ok, following the test plan, I replaced: ribbon cable, start-stop button, key slot. Nothing... Then as I pushed the start button, it started flashing the DRL's as if it was trying to start but nothing. Cool, then used CAS module, HW C4 like mine, exchangeable part number, but 0L15Y, cloned with CGPro (flash+eep), module came back, same error... started a few times then dead. The aforementioned
errors could never be deleted!
3:
After this total disappointment, I put back its original CAS, and suprisingly all of the errors could be deleted, CAS was green in ISTA for the first time. Car run fine for 2 weeks, without any errors. It was running
fine, I was happy with it. I parked it on Sunday with a shitty battery, we had to jump start it several times before.
4:
Today I installed a new battery, tried to start: Nothing happened.
DRL's lit up like it had ignition ON, but nothing on the dash, ISTA could not read the car. Seats work, startstop button is lit, radio turns on.
Error:
- A121: CAS: Short circuit, LED START-STOP Button.
I put back the cloned CAS, nothing, then original back, CAS connector on-off on-off, checked fuses all were OK. And then car came back to life, it started, but it gives an error "Engine start malfunction." however the car starts now, after sleep too, but it gives the same errors:
- A0AA: CAS Control-unit fault
- A121: CAS: Short circuit, LED START-STOP Button
I tried reset ELV, reset EWS starter lock.
I would not try winkfp I think it would fail again. I have not tried ISTA-P at all.
I've spoken to several really skilled men in bmw world, no one had a guess what the fuck is going on, I'm totally clueless, if anybody has a clue please let me know, I'm afraid to use this car in such condition.
