Hi,
I am hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction.
I have been researching all over Xmas the possibility of fitting an updated JBBFEIII to my non LCI E70.
There are plenty of hints that this is possible but no actual answers anywhere including this great forum.
The reason for this is to delete the existing standalone PDC control unit and rewire the existing Front and Rear sensors to the new JBBFEIII.
This mod is to hopefully allow the older Parktronic PDC to work with my retrofitted CIC (upgraded from CCC) without an emulator.
The big questions are this ...
1. Will I be able to code the new JBBFEIII to my older vehicle considering that my car never had this PDC integrated unit (New JBBFEIII has PDC controller incorporated with new protocols to suit CIC HU)
2. Will I need to change the vehicle date (to the date of a car with this updated unit) somewhere in the VO/FA to allow the coding of this unit and will the car recognise it’s new found features whilst working along with all the other older ECU’s in the car?
3. If this is possible it would mean that I could manufacture a DIY for the procedure that would not cost a fortune to implement, even the wiring is relatively simple according to my copious research of NEWTIS, there is just a fair bit of it to do.
A S/H JBBFEIII can be had online for about £50 if you are patient and this would surely be a much better solution than the emulator’s that seem to cause so much drama!
If one of you experts out there woud be able to answer the above positively I shall have a go at it.
Thanks for looking ...
Pom.
